Community Outreach
Teaching
I enjoy teaching and sharing my love for science and astronomy with other students and the general public. I am a Teaching Assistant for an Electromagnetism course at my institute and voluntarily lectured on Statistical Analysis and Python Programming to Master's students at Loyola College Chennai. I have also participated in several workshops to teach Astronomy to high school kids.
Science Communication
I am an active member of NAXATRA, the Astronomy club of IISER Berhampur. I delivered talks to college students at my institute in the 'beyond the Solar System' and' CrowdScience' student Talk Series. I am also a reviewer for Episteme, our institute's Science Magazine. I led the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) IISER Berhampur 2021 team to spread awareness about the preventive measures for a deadly disease, MDR-Tuberculosis, in rural areas of India.
Leadership
I was a member of the Student Affairs Council and was elected as the Sports Secretary of my institute for three consecutive years. I led the IISER Berhampur contingent at the Inter-IISER Sports Meet (IISM) 2019. I also organized several sports tournaments, yoga sessions, and recreation activities throughout my tenure. I fought for gender equality in sports and promoted sports among women. During the Covid 19 pandemic, I sensed a decline in the general well-being of people around me. So, I made efforts to revivify the lost spirit by organizing a virtual festival called 'Tenacity', engaging 1500+ students and faculty across ten institutes.
Inclusion
I am an active member of the Special Olympics, an organization that uses sports as a catalyst to change the lives of those with physical and intellectual disabilities. I have organized and have been a part of various events and workshops that allowed me to contribute towards building an inclusive environment with the specially-abled.
